There isn’t much information around about this Mariposa Moscato Rosa, except that it seems to be a Dan Murphy’s exclusive. Also, it’s apparently a blend of Moscato and Dolcetto, a red Italian grape, and made in Australia. Oh, and it has a butterfly on the label. That’s about all I can tell you about it. Makes my job easy.
The Review: Mariposa Moscato Rosa
There is a nice nose here. Blood orange and spice, almost like a red Vermouth. There is a gentle acidity on the palate, but it’s immediately swamped by heavy handed sweetness, which also dominates the finish. So, it’s pretty sweet, with not a lot else going on, aside from a pleasant nose, is the key message here. Really, that’s probably not a bad thing for many people. So it’s a Moscato for the casual drinker, or someone who likes a bit of extra sweetness.
However, if you’re on the look out for a truly excellent Moscato, I’d recommend the Innocent Bystander NV.
Alcohol Percentage: 6.5%
